Hines mentions that they haven’t really looked into the Wii U as a publishing platform for reasons he would “rather not go into.” With Skyrim under its belt and the upcoming The Evil Within, adventure games with grim character tend to be their forte. Nintendo tends to have a “cutesy,” family-oriented reputation, so that may be why Bethesda and Nintendo suffer from a fatal incompatibility.
However, Bayonetta 2 will be on the Wii U, which isn’t necessarily the type of game we associate with Nintendo. Perhaps Bayonetta will be the edgy leader and encourage more developers to publish their grungy adventure games on Wii U, and maybe someday Bethesda may be one of them.
